Meet Helen Blocker-Adams
The Champion of Resilience
Helen Blocker-Adams years of experience in broadcasting, radio, television, publishing and writing spans over fifty years beginning in her junior year at Glenn Hills High School when her English teacher suggested she pursue a degree in journalism because of her excellent writing skills. Georgia State University (GSU), based in Atlanta, Ga., that had an exceptional School of Journalism is where Helen’s journey in this industry began. During her four years, she had student internship opportunities at Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS) where her mentor was Xernona Clayton, a pioneering broadcasting executive and founder and CEO of the Trumpet Awards.
Helen also interned at WIGO- AM Radio station. She was active with the college’s radio station, WRAS-FM, as a news correspondent and the innovative student-produced television station called GSUTV (formerly Georgia State Television), which was part of the university’s journalism program and broadcasted on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB).
Many years later, Helen ventured back into the broadcast arena and created, produced, and hosted a one-hour public affairs television show called “Bridging the Gap, which aired on the CBS network Sunday mornings in Augusta. She also created, produced and hosted a three-hour talk-radio show called “The Helen Blocker Adams Show,” which aired in the Augusta market for almost three years.
An entrepreneur and small business owner for 34 years, Helen Blocker-Adams is now CEO of The Adams Group Agency, LLC. After dedicating herself over 33 years as a small business owner, radio and television talk show producer, creator, and host, magazine publisher, published author, candidate for public office, community activist, and college professor, she decided to employ her years of life and professional experience and passion for empowering and mentoring people to become a Final Expense Specialist. Since October 2014, Helen has been committed to providing a Legacy for families and laser focused on building a team, across America, of entrepreneurial and servant- minded individuals who desire to change the financial trajectory of their lives.
Helen is also founder of HOPE TNBC, an online initiative designed to inform, educate, empower, inspire, and exhibit hope to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and/or are living with it now. Having been diagnosed with TNBC in April 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, Helen is now a passionate Triple Negative Breast Cancer advocate survivor. The oldest of four children, her only sister is deceased, and she has two brothers. Helen is a military brat, born in Hampton, Va., who has traveled and lived around the world including Germany, Italy, and Okinawa, Japan. She now lives in Hephzibah, Ga. She is a proud auntie and great auntie for nine nieces and nephews, two deceased nieces, and 10 great nieces and nephews.
